We all need a to-do list; priority investment acts as a quick reference guide where the recommendations made throughout the plan are compiled and summarized.

The priority investment element is one of the nine elements of Columbia Compass: Envision 2036.

PRIORITY INVESTMENT CHAPTER (PDF)
The priority investment chapter makes one additional recommendation for the next ten years and provides a snapshot of all of the plan recommendations, organized by priority and duration.  The chapter also summarizes the priority transportation projects included within the transportation chapter.

What does a high, medium, or low priority mean?

  • HIGH: start implementing the recommendation within 1-3 years of plan adoption
  • MEDIUM: start implementing the recommendation within 4-6 years of plan adoption
  • LOW: start implementing the recommendation within 7-10 years of plan adoption

How are priorities assigned?

  • Immediacy of need
  • Relationship to adopted policy goals & priorities
  • Timing can depend on anticipated program, funding, or staff capacity
  • Lower priorities may be staggered to build upon the successful implementation of higher priorities
